A Note From The Conference Chair
2010 has rolled in with great promise for specialized information publishers. Shaking off some of the worst economic conditions
in decades, most of the publishers I've spoken with are poised for growth, excited about the opportunities in front of
them and optimistic about what a strong year 2010 is going to be for them.
At my company alone, PaperClip Communications, we are about to hire multiple positions to launch a series of exciting new products. I am hearing similar growth stories across the industry.
Its one of the reasons I am so excited about SIPA 2010: Profit Abilities - SIPA's 34th Annual International Conference - because companies like mine are building on the possibilities we see even in difficult market conditions.
Unlike other media industry trade groups and their members who are still trying to find their footing in this new economic environment, SIPA members have mostly figured it out and are moving forward with plans to build more profit and are looking forward to gathering in June to look at the tools, tactics and techniques to get that job done.
If you want to hear more about who has figured it out, how they are profiting and what they are doing then you'll want to be sure to save the dates and save a place for the SIPA conference: SIPA 2010: Profit Abilities. June 6 - 8, 2010 • Washington, DC.
Below you'll find some very basic details on the conference - more details will follow in the weeks to come.
I look forward to seeing you in DC in June.

Financial Assistance Available for SIPA June Conference
Let’s face it, last year was tough. But, 2010 promises to be a year of recovery and hopefully profitability.
If you are ready to get your company back on track and improve your bottom line, the place to be is SIPA’s International
Annual Conference -- June 6-8, 2010 in Washington DC. Don’t let money stand between you and the incredible opportunity
to attend SIPA’s 34th Annual International Conference -- Profit Abilities: Tools, Tactics & Techniques for
Building the Bottom Line.
The Specialized Information Publishers Foundation will offer financial assistance for a limited number of SIPA members to
attend the annual conference. This program was started last year in response to so many members who where regular attendees
at the conference being unable to attend the conference due to the difficult year that their companies were experiencing.
Last year the Foundation was proud to sponsor 28 individuals to attend the conference from companies of all sizes across
the globe. Some were members whose companies had a no-travel or no-training policy. Others just couldn’t
afford the expense. And, some were small or new members who had never had the opportunity to attend a SIPA conference
previously. No matter what size your company is or what the circumstances of your need for financial assistance, you
are encouraged to apply,
The Scholarship Committee comprised of Association and Foundation officers, will review the scholarship applications and
grant as many scholarships as possible within the generous, but limited, resources the Foundation has budgeted. In making
grants, the committee will look at the financial needs of the applicants, as well as past contributions to SIPA or the willingness
to assist SIPA in the future as a volunteer. Whether you are with a large company or a small start-up, are currently
employed or need to find a job, this conference is the largest gathering of specialized information publishers in the world
– and it’s the place to be June 6-8, 2010!
