Monday 19 April 2010, 09.30 - 13.00
Website Conversion Secrets from the Experts
Novotel London Tower Bridge, Pepys Street, London EC3

You've built your publishing websites, filled them with great content and optimised them. Your sites rank well for your niche keywords and you're getting the right people to visit, but there's still something wrong. Your traffic is just not converting as well as you hoped.

Whatever your key objectives - getting readers to sign up for email newsletters, generating leads for your sales teams or direct e-commerce sales - marketers and publishers know that it is often the very simple, small changes that make all the difference.

Minor tweaks that you make to landing pages and sign-up forms can radically transform your results, but there are a thousand things you could test and specialist publishers are often working with small groups of customers. So, what can we do?

The simple answer is to CHEAT.

On 19 April SIPA will be gathering some of the foremost website conversion experts to give you the benefit of their years of testing - so you don't have to. The aim of this practical and interactive half-day session is to give you a series of tips to take away and apply. Among the topics to be covered will be:

  • The psychology of web visitors - what language, colours and design make visitors more likely to register or spend?
  • Landing page optimisation - a B2B site in the US recently found that putting a video on their landing page led to a 300% increase in conversions. What can you be doing (and testing) to improve results?
  • Reducing bounce rates - delivering the content a visitor expects to receive and techniques for starting a process of engagement
  • Testing - what to test, how and how often
  • Turning data into action - never get past the opening pages on your analytics reports? Overwhelmed with data? We'll show you the key figures you need to be measuring and what to do with the data you collect
  • What next? - fantastic, your visitor has done what you wanted them to do. What next? Techniques to up-sell and cross-sell
  • Site clinic - if you have sites that you want our experts to look at and give advice on, there will be a chance to submit them in advance for some free consultancy.

Rory Brown, SIPA Board member will be the day's chair, joined by a group of some of today's foremost web analysts and experts.

Price for SIPA members: £147 + VAT; non-members £247 + VAT. Price includes lunch and the chance to network with your peers.
